Since Toolbox is fully integrated with SOLIDWORKS CAD and SOLIDWORKS PDM software, you can utilize Smart Part Technology to automate your entire assembly process – bolts, washers, and nuts, one stack or a hundred, properly assembled in a few clicks. Just indicate your hole or thread size and click – there’s your part. Now you can select and place the right part in the right hole in seconds. With SOLIDWORKS Toolbox you have instant access to an entire encyclopedia of standard components. SOLIDWORKS Toolbox Standard Parts Library If you have multiple versions installed the SOLIDWORKS data folder will add a number depending on how many SOLIDWORKS Data folders are already present. This will create a new SOLIDWORKS Data folder in the C: drive (local drive) that is unique to that version of SOLIDWORKS. If SOLIDWORKS is not successful in finding the exact match, SOLIDWORKS will replace that part with a default size. Create a new SOLIDWORKS 20xx (where xx is the year) Toolbox. In addition to enabling the add-in, the path to your Hole Wizard/Toolbox folder. When this System Option is on, SOLIDWORKS searches the path specified under Hole Wizard and Toolbox folder and disregards references made by the assembly file forcing all Toolbox files to open from this location.
Update the settings in the SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration. Copy/move your toolbox data into your PDM vault and check the data in to the vault.
This includes, among other things: data cards, workflow setup, vault folder storage location and user/group permissions. 2) Tools > Add-ins > enable SOLIDWORKS Toolbox Library. A general outline of the process is: Configure your PDM vault for the toolbox files. Only Toolbox allows you to take advantage of SOLIDWORKS Smart Part Technology, a unique capability that automates assembly tasks. Since the Toolbox is a SOLIDWORKS Add-in we must first enable the add-in by one of two methods: 1) Enable Add-in through the Design Library tab in the Taskpane on the right side of the SOLIDWORKS session.
For part 2 of the tutorial the finished assembly was used to run a motion analysis of the mobile using mates and motors.
In part 1 of this tutorial I will show you how to create some simple baby mobile parts for an assembly that we will create in part 2. SOLIDWORKS Toolbox is included with SOLIDWORKS Professional and SOLIDWORKS Premium, the premium brand in affordable 3D CAD software. For this 2-part SOLIDWORKS tutorial, I have designed a Rainbow Cloud Baby Mobile.
